VOLKSWAGEN CADDY 1.6 TDI Maxi Custom Built Van. AC. Solar. Fridge. Power pack. 2015

This van was designed to be the Ultimate fishing vehicle.

We started with a Trusty VW Caddy turbo diesel van . We chose a Maxi van for the added load length. Twin side loading doors are a huge bonus when it comes to accessing your gear. We went for a van with Aircon for comfort.

This particular van is a 2015, it’s covered a modest 72000 miles.

Our market research taught us that the modern angler needs more than just transport, they also want power! Battery power! Charging phones, tablets, bait boats and all the other equipment we now carry is a necessity.
That’s why we fitted one of the amazing Bluetti charging stations to the van. In a nutshell it’s a lithium battery pack that allows you to charge your toys- it’s got USB-A USB-C + 12v + 240v outlets. When driving to the lake you can charge this unit using the power from the van. ( 3x cigarette lighter sockets in the van).
When you park the van - let the Solar panel on the van roof take over. We’ve designed the system to be portable - if you want to take the bluetti with you, the compact unit unclips from the van- it’s not even that heavy! (I’ll post the full spec on this unit below).

We wanted a way of keeping food + drink + bait cold for the longer trip. We’ve installed one of the awesome 12v Fridge freezers from Alpicool. The K25 has a 25 litre capacity but uses very little power. This can stay in the van, powered by the battery pack + solar or again, unclip and take it to the bank. Ideal for keeping the Stella cool!

The load area has had a refresh, we’ve carpet the sides and ceiling - fitted some LED lights with a hard wearing, wipe clean rubber floor. Behind the walls, floor and ceiling we’ve sound proofed and insulated the van as we would with a camper. If you want to get your bed chair out and kip in the van- it’ll be warm and cosy and peaceful!

Externally we’ve made some changes to the Caddy, we’ve gone for a “swamper” look -rugged and purposeful. We’ve added roof bars, side bars and wheel arch + door protecters/mouldings. We’ve added a new set of Hancock Dynapro all terrain tyres to the van, this gives us little more ground clearance and off road grip.

The van benefits from a comprehensive service history and an MOT that expires in 2025.
